Paste two versions of text to compare
Differences will be highlighted line by line.
How to use the Text Compare (Diff Checker)
- Paste the original version of your text into the left box.
- Paste the modified version into the right box.
- Click Compare Text to see line-by-line differences highlighted.
- Use the Copy or Share buttons to save or send your result.
Tip: Red strikethrough lines were removed; green lines were added — unchanged lines appear as plain text.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Comparing text with different line-break styles, which can cause false differences.
- Expecting word-level highlighting — this tool compares whole lines, not individual words.
- Not noticing extra blank lines counted as differences.
How line comparison works
Red for removed, green for added
Each line in the original text is compared to the same line number in the changed text. Identical lines show as plain text. When lines differ, the original line is shown in red with a strikethrough, and the new line is shown in green.
When to use this tool
Useful for reviewing document edits, comparing code snippets, checking contract revisions, or spotting changes between two drafts.
✓ Pros
- Works instantly, right in your browser
- Clear red/green visual highlighting
- No sign-up, no ads blocking the result
✕ Limitations
- Compares by line position, not by content matching
- Doesn’t highlight word-level changes within a line
- Inserting/deleting a line shifts all following line comparisons

Accuracy & limitations
This calculator is built for speed and accuracy, but it's worth understanding what it does and doesn't account for:
- Position-based comparison. Lines are compared by their position/order — inserting a line near the top will shift and affect all later line comparisons.
- No word-level diff. A single changed word marks the entire line as different — the whole line is shown, not just the changed word.
- Line-shift sensitivity. Adding or removing a line partway through will cause every subsequent line to appear as "changed" even if the content itself didn’t change.
